Muhammad Ali send message of condolence over death of Teofilo

12 June 2012

Muhammad Ali: "I will always remember the encounter with the great Teofilo in his native Cuba"

In a statement of condolence over the death of Teofilo Stevenson, the great American boxer, Muhammad Ali said:

"I was deeply saddened this morning the news of the death of one of the great boxing champions, Teofilo Stevenson. Although he never fought professionally, winning three gold medals in three different Olympics, guarantees that he would have been a formidable foe for any other reigning heavyweight champion or challenger at its best. Always remember the meeting with the great Teofilo in his native Cuba. He was one of the greats of this world, and man it was a warm and huggable. My condolences to his family and friends. May he rest in peace. "
